I absolutely encourage debate and follow-up questions. I love when good dialogue brings out new ideas and multiple points of view. Please keep your comments relevant to the post, the current conversation or to SheriJ.com. Feel free to disagree with me, but please be respectful so we can all get something out of the discussion. If expressing yourself includes what you've said in post on your blog about the same topic, a link to your post is fine.

Sharing has made the internet what it is and and I fully embrace that. Providing information about resources available elsewhere is fine within reason.

Posting comments as a veiled attempt to promote unrelated products and services is not okay. If you have something genuinely relevant to the discussion that's worth sharing, I do not want to keep my readers from learning about it.

Please do not include more than two outside links in any comment. Determining whether the openness of this policy is being abused is at my discretion and any violating comments will be edited or deleted. Repeat offenders may be banned from commenting.

It is important to me that the conversations on this blog are beneficial to everyone. The comments section should not become a place for spam or offensive content. What do I consider inappropriate? I’m a fan of expression (see Rule #2) but I reserve the right to follow an “I know it whn I see it” stance on this. I think most of us know it when we see it. Specific examples of inappropriate information include:

• Intentionally inflammatory statements - Useful debates are encouraged, but trolling and starting flame wars not so much.
• Spam or links to spam (promotional attempts to direct readers to irrelevant content on another website)
• Personal information, such as addresses & phone numbers - Inclusion of email addresses is not allowed.
• Blatantly promotional content.
• More than 3-4 sentences reproduced from content on another site - Please provide a link instead.
• More than 1,000 words - If you feel that strongly about what you have to say contact me about contributing your own post to SheriJ.com.

Inappropriate information will be edited out or the comment will be deleted in its entirety.

I’m saying “please” here because I am not requiring you to let everyone know who you are. You may post an anonymous comment. I do not encourage anonymous comments but I understand that people may have valid reasons. Putting your name with your words minimizes the temptation to say things online that you wouldn’t say in person. If you include a name, you agree that it is your real name. A first or last name only is fine.
